In 2013, MM Grupp decided to invest in a company whose strong scientific foundation and ambitious vision were evident already with their first commercial product series. Today, it is clear that Skeleton’s contribution is becoming critical for Europe’s future.
The €220 million SuperFactory in Leipzig produces Skeleton’s latest generation of graphene-based supercapacitors, ensuring the reliability of Europe’s electrical grids and supporting the rapidly growing AI infrastructure. The plant is already supplying Siemens, General Electric, Hitachi Energy, as well as major US hyperscalers.
Skeleton’s solutions, including GrapheneGPU™, help reduce data centre electricity consumption by nearly half by smoothing power peaks on the grid and ensuring stable, secure operation. This matters at a time when the rising share of renewable energy and the rapid expansion of AI data centres are placing unprecedented pressure on Europe’s power systems.
MM Grupp’s Member of the Board, Kristel Volver, attended the factory opening and noted that Skeleton’s growth highlights the value of long-term, vision-driven investments:
“Today, it is an investment that aligns deeply with our Group's core values, as Skeleton develops essential technologies for Europe’s future – enhancing grid stability, supporting the acceleration of AI, and ensuring dependable performance in the systems that must operate without interruption.”
The Leipzig factory will create more than 400 jobs in Saxony, strengthen Europe’s industrial capabilities, and support energy systems that must operate without interruption.
MM Grupp is proud to have been part of this journey from the beginning and to support a company whose technological impact will extend far into the future.
